about us

we are a physician-run practice focused on promoting health to slow the aging process.

BeyondHealthy MD was founded by two Austin physicians to provide patients access to advances in health-focused diagnostics, longevity medical practices, and biocellular aesthetic treatments to slow the rate of aging - internally (biologic age) and externally (reducing visible signs of aging).

They build relationships with patients in order to provide effective, leading-edge solutions to promote health so that we all can stay active and continue to live healthier for longer.

YOUR HEALTH IS AT STAKE.

we are here to help.

Many of us are in a constant state of damage control - on the inside!

Your body has precise requirements to function optimally.

Humans are designed to regenerate from within if given the right tools, fuel, and information. BeyondHealthyMD can assist your body to improve your cellular health and internally slow your aging process. We also manage concerns regarding the physical body with ideal-body-weight goals, skin regeneration, aesthetics, and muscle-building technologies.

Addressing your overall health may not be easy or a priority to you right now. Understanding where a person is on the scale of healthy - from "just getting by" to wanting to live with optimal health - is part of the process of getting started.

If you are ready to leave your status quo and move beyond “getting by”, we are ready to partner with you.

Don’t stand in your way of being remarkable. You’ve got it in you and we are here to help give you a jumpstart!

DR. AMY BURTON

Dr. Burton was raised in Austin and is proud to still call it home. In the 13 years she was away, she attended Mills College in California, East San Francisco Bay Area, Kings College at the University of London in England, the University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas, and completed Emergency Medicine residency training at the University of Florida Regional Trauma Center in Jacksonville, Florida. In her final year of residency, she served as Chief Resident and received the Resident of the Year Award.

CONTINUED...

In 2000, Dr. Burton began working as an Emergency Medicine doctor at the St. David's Healthcare system Emergency Departments. She has worked full-time as a Board Certified ER doctor for over 20 years. In those decades of working with chronically ill patients, it became clear to her that longevity is directly related to the number of healthy years a person lives. She began studying and training in the fields of anti-aging, longevity, hormone optimization, and medical aesthetics to learn the science of health optimization and how to stimulate essential body processes to slow aging.

She believes that turning on the regenerative capabilities of the body is a more direct route to optimal health than starting to treat a disease years after it starts. She is passionate about keeping up to date on the new advances and clinical research in these emerging fields of medicine. Dr. Burton wants people to have access to reliable, scientific information and be offered treatment and care plans that include up-to-date, clinically studied recommendations.

She has two sons - one at Westlake High School and one at the University of South Carolina, Darla Moore International School of Business. She and her family enjoy being active and outdoors in all that Austin offers and beyond through adventure and travel.

DR. ERIK STRELNIEKS

Dr. Strelnieks was raised in Indiana and Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. He attended medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.

Following medical school, he was residency trained in Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida Regional Trauma Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He stayed on as faculty and worked as an attending physician for the University of Florida’s Department of Emergency Medicine. He moved to Austin, Texas in 1998 where he has been working as a Board Certified ER doctor at the St. David's Healthcare system for over 24 years.

CONTINUED...

He has served as a Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine for Texas A&M College instructing medical students; as the Assistant Medical Director and then as the Medical Director for the Emergency Department at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, a Level 2 Trauma Center and Stroke Center; and for over a decade, on the hospital's Peer Review Committee. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Motivated by learning about his own genetic predisposition for early onset vascular disease (making him a high risk for early heart attack, stroke, and dementia), as well as identifying family members with early cognitive decline, Dr. Strelnieks became immersed in studying the current literature on how to reduce the risk for future disease and age more slowly.

Dr. Strelnieks' true passion is racing cars. Since he was young, he has been in the garage modifying and fine-tuning vehicles to match his skill as a driver. He has been racing for almost 40 years and to date, he has won 25 National Championships in the Sports Car Club of America Solo and Pro Solo series. He is the proud stepfather of two teenage sons and finds fun and competition in all that he does, including sports, golf, electric foiling, and travel.
